Mother Nature has a habit of dropping in on NASCAR races and delaying them in some capacity with bad weather, often including rain. And the weather forecast for Sunday’s season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway has already pushed NASCAR to adjust the start time of the race.
NASCAR announced Friday that the green flag for the 2025 Daytona 500 has been moved up an hour to 1:30 p.m. ET instead of 2:30 p.m. ET “due to potential weather forecasted for the Daytona Beach area late Sunday”.

So what is the weather forecast for the Daytona 500?
According to The Weather Channel on Saturday afternoon, the forecast for Daytona Beach, Florida on Sunday predicts a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit wind with scattered thunderstorms developing throughout the day and a 70 percent chance of rain.
Scattered thunderstorms and rain are projected for between 2 and 4 p.m. ET in Daytona Beach, but the weather is expected to clear up into the evening.
