THE Kansas City Chiefs suffered a devastating loss in Super Bowl LIX, but that might not be the end of their troubles this year.
Multiple members of the Chiefs have voiced their concerns to The U.S. Sun that the team’s dynasty is over.
The Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, a game that could be the last of Travis Kelce‘s career.
With the uncertainty surrounding Kelce’s retirement and multiple question marks in free agency, the Chiefs dynasty is at risk of fracturing.
“The loss has been a very, very big hit on our faces and humbled us up, as we didn’t expect to be beaten like that,” a player on the Chiefs roster told The U.S. Sun.
“I mean, since I got here, it’s the biggest loss of my career, and I felt that we got hit by a truck, and never recovered.
“There are doubts now that we can bounce back from that, and many of my teammates are already thinking about what’s next.
“Guys like Nick Bolton, Trey Smith are guys that are targeted by other teams and they know they would make more money somewhere else and we talked together about the possibility of starting a new challenge too.
“There are also guys that are free agents, like D.J Humphries, Justin Reid that are already thinking about their next step, and most likely see themselves out of Kansas City and feel like the cycle is most likely done for the Chiefs.
“Kareem [Hunt] knows that he will get more money somewhere else, and that he feels like the Chiefs won’t plan to keep him.”
The player expressed concerns about some of the team’s core players getting traded to free up room for roster reconstruction.
Guys like Cooper Kupp could be targets for the Chiefs this offseason.
“There is also the fact that we are all almost sure that the team will push for a trade of another massive player, such as Cooper Kupp that we all know that is the team’s wish to add to the roster,” the player continued.
“Many guys know that they would be traded, guys like Joe Thuney, Drue Tranquill and Noah Gray know and are conscious that they could be traded to in order to make room for more cap space or to have Kupp coming.
“The atmosphere is quite weird, as this loss makes most of us rethink many things, and a lot of us also think that some pillars like Travis Kelce can’t return to their best level, and that the dynasty is over.
“There is a lot of question marks over our heads, and the next few months are gonna be very interesting.”
Another member of the Chiefs’ roster expressed similar concerns about where the team is headed in the future.
He labeled this point in time as a “crossroads” for the Chiefs, and said he doesn’t plan to resign in Kansas City.
“This is a very tough moment for us, for the whole team as we know we are on crossroads, and many changes will happen for the board to keep the window still open to possibly win more Super Bowls,” another member of the Chiefs roster told The U.S. Sun.

“But many of us doubt about the future of the team, and there are tons of questions raised and guys that want to be out and start another challenge as they don’t believe we will bounce back from that heavy loss that happened Sunday.
“I am finishing my contract and I know that I will give priority to be seeking other options, and I don’t see myself staying here anymore as I think the dynasty is over.
“I want something else, and I know that I need to put myself first and get the best deal possible, as I don’t know how long a career could last.
“I want more money and I know that the Chiefs can’t give me that, and that they are targeting many guys, including Cooper Kupp, and they need to make moves and not extend guys for their real values in order to keep some room, some cap space to sign fresh blood and try to be competitive again.”
The Chiefs player had a simple message: he thinks the Chiefs’ dynasty is over and the roster will break up.
“I think that it’s the end of the Chiefs as we know them, and that it will take many major moves to try to be competitive again and reach other Super Bowls,” he continued.
“We have been talking about that since Sunday with many of other teammates, guys that are free agents or have few years left of their contract, and the feeling is the same: many changes will happen and some guys wouldn’t mind being traded and start a new chapter somewhere else.”
