Denver weather: Cold morning, Pinpoint Weather Alert Day

DENVER (KDVR) — Thursday will have a cold start with negative wind chill values across the state before sunshine helps to warm temperatures into the upper 30s in the Denver weather forecast.

After a cold start to the day, sunny skies will help melt more snow and ice across the metro on Thursday.

    High temperatures will be above freezing, but still below average in the upper 30s.

    Denver will see increasing clouds overnight as winds stay light and temperatures remain close to seasonal lows near the 20-degree mark.

    Later Thursday evening, snow will move into the high country and linger through Saturday. Travel to the mountains will be impacted if you are headed to some skies resorts on Friday or Saturday.

    Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories will be in effect from Thursday evening through Saturday evening.

    Looking ahead: Weekend snow chances

    Friday will be mild in the metro with partly cloudy skies and just above-average highs in the lower 50s. Rain is possible in the metro by Friday evening with a swap over to some light snow before sunrise on Saturday.

    Snow continues to fall in the high country on Friday, with a bulk of the snow falling by early Saturday morning.

    Denver and the Front Range could see up to a half inch on Saturday morning with clouds lingering in the afternoon as highs reach the lower 30s. There is a possible quick flurry chance later on Saturday, amounting to another half inch.

    Sunday brings sunshine slowly back into the forecast with temperatures getting closer to seasonal averages in the lower 40s.

    Monday is even warmer with highs in the upper 40s with mainly sunny skies. Clouds build in late Monday ahead of some snow chances on Tuesday.

    Highs on Tuesday will be just above freezing in the mid-30s with cloudy skies and possible snow. Sunshine will return on Wednesday afternoon with highs nearing the 40-degree mark.
