GREENE TOWNSHIP — Patricia Rogan, 71, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, peacefully, surrounded by family.

She was born March 17, 1953, in Scranton, Pa., to John and Agnes Sweeney Rogan. Patricia grew up in Wheaton, Maryland. She graduated from Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, Maryland. She then graduated from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and continued her education at Seton Hall University, where she received a master’s degree in religious education.

    Patricia began her work life as a high school and college student, working part-time as a guest services representative at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. She next moved to New Jersey and worked in guest services at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark. She moved on to a teaching position at Mother Seton Regional High School in Clark, New Jersey, and then served as a teacher and guidance counselor at Roselle Catholic High School.

    Patricia also did part-time work at Fair Oaks Counseling Center. She proceeded to working in donor management for Catholic Relief Services. Patricia enjoyed her various work assignments and was respected by clients and employers. She was honest and concerned about every individual, and never hesitated to represent the best interests of the people she served. Lately, she became active in Democratic Party politics as a member of the county democratic committee.

    Patricia met Gary Ciuba when they were both faculty members at Mother Seton Regional High School. They were married May 21, 1994. They enjoyed over 30 years of marriage centered on God’s will for their lives. They grew their family by adopting three pairs of siblings. Their sons were all school-aged at time of their adoption from Brazil and have now created successful careers and families of their own.

    Patricia is survived by her six sons, Junio (Trista) of Austintown, Giovane (Krystal) of Cortland, Thiago (Alyssa) of Fowler, Jonathan (April) of Boardman, Joao of North Bloomfield, Andre (Lauren) of Niles; and her 12 grandchildren, Ethan, Milena, Owen, Tanner, Marissa, Camila, Oliver, Tegan, Eliana, Avia, Evan and Zelia. She is also survived by her cousin, Margaret Mary Conway; and sister-in-law, Debbie Rogan, both of Jessup, Pa.; her brothers-in-law, the Rev. German Ciuba of Youngstown and Mark Ciuba of Linden, New Jersey; and numerous cousins scattered around the country.

    Preceding Patricia in death was her husband, Dr. Gary Ciuba; her parents, Jack and Agnes Rogan; her brother, the Rev. John Rogan Jr.; her grandson, Luciano Ciuba; her beloved aunts and uncles, Mary and William Rogan, and Anne and Harry Conway; her cousin, Patrick Conway; and her mother-in-law, Anne Ciuba.

    Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Patricia 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

    Additional calling hours will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4659 OH-46, Cortland, OH 44410.

    A funeral Mass will follow at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Thomas Eisweirth presiding.

    Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.

    Patricia’s family would like to thank Patriot Home Care and Hospice teams for their compassionate and loving care towards Patricia in her final days.
