Kansas City Chiefs have illness sweeping through team just hours before Super Bowl in major Andy Reid worry

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS head coach Andy Reid has been dealt a major blow ahead of the Super Bowl as several of his players have been stricken by illness.

The Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles tonight for the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

However, an illness has been spreading around the host city and the Kansas City locker room has been affected ahead of the NFL blockbuster event.

According to ESPN, a number of Chiefs players had the flu this week.

However, the players have “hunkered down” before the Super Bowl showdown.

This comes after Reid, 66, confirmed practice squad defensive tackle Fabien Lovett had to leave practice on Friday due to an illness.

Lovett is an undrafted rookie and wasn’t expected to play in the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs also placed Matt Araiza on the injury list for having an illness earlier this week.

However, Araiza was ultimately cleared to compete against the Eagles.

Philadelphia have also been dealing with the same issue before the Super Bowl.

Jalen Carter was a limited participant in the Philly’s practice on Wednesday as he battled illness.

Carter was not at the Eagles’ media sessions, with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio admitting the bug was “going around some of the team”.

Fangio did not expand on who else may be suffering from the mystery illness but reports suggest “four or five” players have been feeling under the weather.
