DIFFERENT players and plays hidden behind the scenes always emerge as legends during the Super Bowl.
Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City chiefs have hidden playmakers capable of turning a game on its head.
In what should be a very closely matched Super Bowl, both teams will need someone to make their mark that isn’t one of the big names like Patrick Mahomes or Saquon Barkley.
Both head coaches, Andy Reid and Nick Sirianni, will have certain plays circled in their playbooks to get a leg up on their opponent.
These players and plays will be the keys to victory for the Chiefs and Eagles.
NOAH GRAY
GettyNoah Gray is one of the most valuable players on the Chiefs despite being a backup[/caption]Noah Gray is among the most impactful yet underrated players in the NFL.
He is only 25 years old yet feels like the heir apparent for the Chiefs when Travis Kelce retires.
In the regular season, gray had 437 receiving yards and five touchdowns as a backup tight end.
The Chiefs love to run two-tight end sets, giving him plenty of opportunities to make an impact.
Gray hasn’t shown up in a big way in the playoffs yet though, only catching three passes for 13 yards.
However, he is always a threat to go off at any moment if Kelce isn’t making an impact.
NOLAN SMITH
GettyNolan Smith leads the NFL is postseason sacks[/caption]In a defense that is as stacked as the Eagles unit is, it is easy to have your name overlooked for other stars.
However, linebacker Nolan Smith is making sure people remember his name during the playoffs.
While Smith had a moderately productive regular season, producing 6.5 sacks and a forced fumble, he has turned it up in the playoffs.
In just three playoff games, Smith already has four sacks and a forced fumble.
He has been a game wrecker and could have the opportunity to feast against a Chiefs offensive line that has been suspect,
SAMAJE PERINE
GettySamaje Perine is one of Patrick Mahomes’ favorite check down options[/caption]If you want a truly underrated option, look no further than Samaje Perine.
Perine falls way down the Chiefs’ depth chart at running back, but makes a huge impact in the passing game.
While he only had 92 rushing yards and one touchdown in the regular season, he put together 322 receiving yards and a touchdown to compliment it.
Perine is the perfect passing option for Mahomes, who loves to dump the ball off to the check down man when things get hairy.
Look out for Perine to make an impact if he gets an opportunity in the Super Bowl.
JAHAN DOTSON
GettyJahan Dotson is an explosive play waiting to happen[/caption]Jahan Dotson’s career certainly hasn’t gone the way he expected it to.
After being drafted in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he has yet to eclipse 550 yards in a season.
He spent his first two years with the Washington Commanders before being sent to the Eagles in a trade.
Dotson was the third or fourth option for the Eagles most of this season, but still has the ability to explode downfield for big plays.
He has yet to emerge in the playoffs this year, only catching one pass for 11 yards and a touchdown in the divisional round, but look out for him to get wide open down the field.
TUSH PUSH
The Tush Push is by far the most controversial play in the NFL. This is probably because it is so effective.
Almost every time the Eagles line up for the Tush Push, they eventually score.
This was put into perspective during the NFC Championship, when the Commanders jumped offsides so many times while trying to defend the play that the refs warned another infraction would result in the score being awarded to the Eagles.
Jalen Hurts has scored 14 rushing touchdowns this season, almost all of them coming off of the Tush Push, and the Chiefs will likely do everything they can to stop the Eagles from getting the ball anywhere inside the two-yard line.
Once it gets there, it’s going to be a touchdown.
65 TOSS POWER TRAP
This is an iconic play from Kansas City’s Super Bowl history.
In Super Bowl IV, the first that the Chiefs won in 1970, legendary head coach Hank Stram called 65 Toss Power Trap.
This play resulted in a five-yard touchdown that pretty much secured the victory for the Chiefs.
Fast forward 55 years to modern day, the Chiefs are trying to pull this play off once again as an homage to their history.
The team tried to pull this off in the AFC Championship but were ultimately stuffed in the process.
However, they are going to try again, so look out for it in the Super Bowl.
