San Diego International Airport has announced that 2024 was a year for the books.
A record 25.24 million people traveled through SAN last year, surpassing the previous high of 25.18 million passengers in 2019.
“This is a true sign of recovery and growth,” said Kimberly Becker, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s president and chief executive.
“We are grateful for our partnering airline tenants who operate at SAN and for the many business and leisure passengers who choose to fly to and from our airport.”
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority credits new airlines (Breeze and Porter Airlines), nine new nonstop destinations (Anchorage, Alaska; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Eagle County/Vail, Colorado; Jacksonville, Florida; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Norfolk, Virginia; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina), and expansions of international services.
The agency also said that it expects international travel to continue growing in the coming year with the addition of service to Amsterdam on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and daily nonstop service to Tokyo on Japan Airlines.
Currently, 18 airlines operate from SAN and offer nonstop flights to 85 destinations.
