AN idiotic gang of illegal immigrants has been pictured flaunting $300,000 worth of jewelry stolen from Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s house.
Disturbing details are emerging about the crew of Chilean natives who were arrested and accused of the brazen burglary as theft rings continue to target NFL stars in eerily similar crimes.
The arrogant gang descended on Burrow’s Cincinnati home on December 9 and made away with precious watches, designer luggage, and luxe glasses, federal authorities said.
But before running away with their spoils, the illegal immigrants made sure to throw on some of Burrow’s jerseys and his iconic “JB9” chain to snap a senseless selfie.
The picture, released by FBI agents in Cincinnati, showed four men in black shirts wearing the NFL star’s Louis Vuitton hats as they flashed peace signs or a middle finger.
Federal agents believe three of the people behind the sick invasion are Bastian Morales, 23, Jordan Sanchez, 22, and Sergio Cabello.
All three of them were caught in a traffic stop last month in Clark County, Ohio, alongside Alexander Chavez, 24.
He was also arrested and accused of theft, but he hasn’t been hit with federal charges.
Investigators said Cabello allegedly rushed to delete the telling selfie and other pictures of Burrow’s home during the traffic stop.
But after they analyzed the phone, they were able to recover the telling piece of evidence.
When FBI agents searched their car, they allegedly found “punch tools” to break glass and an old LSU shirt and Bengals hat, which they believe came from Burrow’s place.
Cops are closing in on the crews of South American criminals targeting top athletes, as they allegedly uncovered $5 million in stolen goods at a New York City pawn shop on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, prosecutors said that Dimitriy Nezhinskiy, 43, and Juan Villar, 48, the owners of Zoland Diamond & Jewelry Exchange, were working with at least five crews of thieves.
DISTURBING TREND
So far, the criminals have targeted Burrows, Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, and Minnesota Timberwolves player Mike Conley Jr.
Mahomes and Kelce’s homes were targeted on October 7, the night the Chiefs defeated the New Orleans Saints.
According to a source who spoke with The U.S. Sun, Kelce’s first-ever Super Bowl jersey and at least $100,000 in designer clothes and jewelry were stolen.
Cops also confirmed that at least $20,000 in cash was taken from Taylor Swift’s famous lover.
South American burglary crews have been using walking trails, undeveloped land, or neighboring golf courses to walk up to expensive homes and smash through windows, cops said.
The thieves who targeted Burrow’s house were able to sneak past a security team and ransack the property without ever alerting them.
The burglary wasn’t even noticed until someone at the home noticed a door that had been broken in.
Morales, Sanchez, and Cabello have all been charged with transporting stolen goods on the interstate and falsifying records.
FBI statement on pro athlete burglaries
The FBI has issued a information bulletin about burglaries targeting professional athletes. The agency wrote in part:
“These homes are targeted for burglary due to the perception they may have high-end goods like designer handbags, jewelry, watches, and cash.
“While many burglaries occur while homes are unoccupied, some burglaries occur while residents are home. In these instances, individuals are encouraged to seek law enforcement help and avoid engaging with criminals, as they may be armed or use violence if confronted.
“These preparation tactics enable theft groups to conduct burglaries in a short amount of time. Organized theft groups bypass alarm systems, use Wi-Fi jammers to block Wi-Fi connections and disable devices, cover security cameras, and obfuscate their identities.”
