The whole world is waiting.
Everyone wants to see Luka Doncic in the purple and gold.
A thought that wasn’t on anyone’s mind last week.
Now, it’s all anyone can think about since one of the biggest and most stunning NBA trades of all time went down on Saturday night.
Doncic is now a Los Angeles Laker and everyone is awaiting his debut.
He has been nursing a calf injury, but seems to be ready to take the court again.
And ESPN has reason to believe that it will be this Saturday when the Lakers host the Indiana Pacers.
The network is so confident that Doncic will make his Lakers debut this weekend, that they reconfigured their entire national broadcast schedule around the Slovenian star.
ESPN was set to air the Utah Jazz-Phoenix Suns game on Friday night, but announced on Wednesday that they will now be showing the Lakers-Pacers game on Saturday afternoon.
LeBron James and Doncic together as teammates is as box office as it gets.
Doncic played in 22 games this season for Dallas, averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists.
He is coming off a season in which he led the Mavs to the NBA Finals, which makes the trade all the more stunning.
Doncic was introduced as a Laker on Tuesday morningGettyAt just 25 years of age, Doncic already has already made first team All-NBA five times.
It was an inexplicable trade by Dallas general manager Nico Harrison.
But you know what they say.
What’s one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure.
It just so happens that in this case, the ‘trash’ is a treasure chest of gold and riches.
And the Lakers are once again, the lucky winners.
