Simmering frustrations over a new series of BBC kitchen drama Boiling Point appear to have bubbled to the surface.
Reports emerged earlier this week the popular show, starring Stephen Graham and Vinette Robinson, may have been shelved by the broadcaster after just one series.
A source told The Sun: “Boiling Point is on the shelf, so to speak, but if the right story or idea comes along then there’s every chance it could be back on screens one day.”

Boiling Point was a four-part drama series which aired on BBC One in October 2023, focusing on the lives of staff working in a London restaurant kitchen.
It continued on from a 2021 feature film of the same name, starring Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Ray Panthaki, and Hannah Walters, which received critical acclaim.
The BBC drama picked up the story six months later after head chef of Jones & Sons Andy Jones (Stephen Graham) had suffered a heart attack and former sous-chef Carly (Vinette Robinson) had started her own restaurant in Dalston, east London, taking most of the staff from Jones & Sons with her.

Viewers saw them struggling to make the business profitable, while creating quality food and managing their complicated personal lives.
It proved a recipe for success with positive reviews from across the board.
A review in The i Paper gave it four stars and described “fervid, moreish and arresting”.
The Guardian said it was “British TV at its very finest” with “a brilliant script, a stacked cast and … it’s shot beautifully”.
While a review in the magazine Empire said: “The entire cast is uniformly outstanding, achieving a seemingly effortless naturalism to match the documentary-style feel of the whole exercise.
“If the series occasionally feels almost too stressful to enjoy, that’s a testament to just how realistic it is.”
Is Boiling Point being cancelled?
Suggestions there may no longer be an appetite for another season of Boiling Point came from comments reported in The Sun.
A source was quoted as saying the show was shelved at present but may come back at some point in the future.
They said: “It’s not often a drama gets such love from viewers and critics but Boiling Point was such a rarity the team has been left disappointed that there’s no news on a second series.
“The fact is there’s still an appetite for more, it’s just making that happen.
“Boiling Point is on the shelf, so to speak, but if the right story or idea comes along then there’s every chance it could be back on screens one day.”
The i Paper approached the BBC to see if the show has, in fact, been cancelled and found there were some morsels of hope.
A BBC spokesperson said that although there are no current plans, “there’s every chance” there will be more Boiling Point in some form in the future.
They said the broadcaster loves working with the Boiling Point team and “look forward to collaborating again”.
