Cooler, cloudier conditions and periods of light rain are forecast in San Diego County through Friday night as a weakening atmospheric river moves southward into Southern California, according to the National Weather Service.
Light to moderate rain is expected to arrive overnight, with northern areas likely to receive up to one-third of an inch, while southern parts of the county may see less than one-tenth of an inch west of the mountains.
Daytime temperatures will remain mostly near or a little below seasonal averages into early next week, with some day-to-day variations, the NWS said.
High temperatures Wednesday are expected to reach 66 near the coast, 65 to 68 in the western valleys, 61 to 66 near the foothills, 55 to 63 in the mountains and 75 to 79 in the deserts.
The storm system will bring stronger onshore winds, especially in the mountains and deserts, gradually weakening but continuing throughout the week.
Lingering showers may continue into early Saturday before drier conditions return, with seasonable or slightly cooler temperatures through early next week, according to meteorologists.
