GUERNEVILLE – An evacuation order was issued Tuesday evening for low-lying areas along the Russian River in Sonoma County as an atmospheric river coursed through the Bay Area.

The river is expected to crest at 35.2 feet in Guerneville at 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Locations impacted by the evacuation order include Mirabel Park Resort and Mirabel Trailer Park in Forestville; Johnsons Resort, Parkers Resort, Creekside Resort and Riverside Park in Guerneville; and Old Bohemian Highway in Monte Rio.
Several roadways were also closed in Guerneville, including the intersection of Highway 116 and Neeley Road, the intersection of Highway 116 and Drake Road and Old Mays Canyon Road by the old rodeo grounds, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office advised residents affected by the evacuation order to bring medications and other essential items with them. Those who live above the 36-foot mark were also warned that flood waters might limit or cut off access to their homes.
As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, 24-hour rainfall totals around the Bay Area included 5.36 inches in Kentfield, 5.12 inches in San Rafael, 3 inches in Richmond, 2.66 inches in San Francisco, 1.4 inches in Oakland, 1.26 inches in Redwood City, .96 inches in Hayward, .75 inches in Half Moon Bay, .72 inches in Fremont and .53 inches in San Jose.
