Shakira is honoring immigrants to the U.S. with her Grammy Award win, telling them they "are worth it."
"I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country," the 48-year-old performer said Sunday as she accepted the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album at the annual awards show in Los Angeles.
"You are loved," the "Hips Don't Lie" singer, who was born in Colombia, said.
"You are worth it," she continued to applause.
"And I will always fight with you," she said.
While the music star didn't mention President Trump by name, her remarks in support of immigrants came after the commander in chief and Colombian President Gustavo Petro made headlines following a heated back-and-forth last week involving immigration.
Trump had threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on Colombian goods coming into the U.S. after Petro initially said that U.S. planes carrying Colombian migrants would not be able to land in the country. The issue was seemingly quickly resolved after the White House said the two sides came to an agreement.
