The Colorado Department of Transportation will temporarily close Weld County Road 32 under Interstate 25, east of Mead, on Monday, Feb. 3, until Thursday, Feb. 6.
Construction crews will begin work at 7 a.m. Monday to install bridge caissons near the roadway. A bridge caisson is a watertight retaining structure that goes underwater or underground to keep water out and away from the bridge foundation, helping the bridge last longer.
This work is part of the I-25 North Express Lanes Project, Mead to Berthoud, which includes reconstructing and widening of bridges along this section of I-25. This closure is in place to ensure the safety of drivers and of the workers as they perform these changes.
There will be two detours in place for Weld road 32, where westbound traffic will take the East I-25 Frontage Road south to Mulligan Street, turn east to Weld 9.5, turn south to Colo. 66, turn west to Weld 7 and turn north to Weld 32. Eastbound traffic will take Weld 7 south to Colo. 66, turn east to Weld 9.5 and turn north to Weld 32.
The road will remain closed until 5 p.m. Feb. 6. Construction is weather-dependent and subject to change.
