The darkest of times can sometimes bring the light out of others.
That is what Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews is currently experiencing.
After a nightmare performance against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round, that included a fourth quarter fumble and a wide-open drop on the two-point conversion that would have tied the game for Baltimore, Andrews has finally broken his silence on his disappointing outing.
He didn’t speak to the media after the 27-25 loss that sent the Ravens home, but has now released a statement to the public.
He took to social media to share how he felt.
“It’s impossible to adequately express how I feel,” Andrews wrote.
“I’m absolutely gutted by what happened on Sunday. I’m devastated for my teammates, my coaches and Ravens fans.
“I pour every ounce of my being into playing at the highest level possible, because I love my team and the game of football like nothing else.
“That is why it’s taken me until now to collect my thoughts and address this publicly.
“Even though the shock and disappointment are unlike anything I’ve felt before, I refuse to let the situation define me.
“I promise that this adversity will only make me stronger and fuel us as we move forward.
“I thank everyone who has shown me and our team genuine support these past several days.

Bills fans, aka Bills Mafia, took what was one of Andrews’ lowest points in his career, and has since then spun it into a positive light.
The Buffalo community has raised over $100,000 for Breakthrough T1D.
Breakthrough T1D is a type 1 diabetes research and advocacy non-profit organization that Andrews supports.
The Ravens tight end was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 9-years-old and has been a vocal advocate for the treatment of the disease.
