Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. was named to the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-Rookie team for the 2024 NFL season.
Thomas was the 23rd overall selection by the Jaguars in this past April’s draft out of LSU.
Thomas finished his first season not only as a top producer at the receiver position in the rookie draft class but in all of football.
And making his production even more impressive is that in what was a struggling Jaguars offense, where everyone knew Thomas was going to be a focal point, opposing defenses still struggled to stop him.
Thomas was a reliable target, catching 67% of his 129 passes, but a big play threat as well, averaging 14.7 yards per catch. He ended with 1,282 receiving yards–the fourth-most among all receivers–along with 10 touchdowns.
There wasn’t a part of the field that Thomas couldn’t find success in. His speed makes him a downfield presence, and his ability to separate on short to intermediate routes provides him with yards after the catch opportunities.
In what was a loaded rookie receiver class, Thomas ranked first in yards, touchdowns, and in yards per route run.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels would win the PFWA’s Rookie of the Year award and the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Joining Thomas at the receiver position on the PFWA’s All-Rookie team was his former LSU teammate Malik Nabers.
The PFWA has voted on the All-Rookie team since 1974 and is comprised of writers who cover all 32 NFL teams.
