PATRICK Mahomes posted a message to the Kansas City Chiefs faithful after the Divisional Round victory over the Houston Texans.
The Chiefs’ 23-14 win will send them to play in the AFC Championship game next weekend.
The three-time Super Bowl champion Mahomes will be playing in familiar territory next Sunday.
Kansas City will be in the team’s seventh consecutive AFC Championship appearance.
After Saturday’s victory at Arrowhead, Mahomes shared a message to Chiefs fans who attended the contest.
“Thank you #ChiefsKingsdom !!!! See ya next week!” the 29-year-old wrote on X.
Kansas City’s fans then replied to the two-time NFL MVP on the social media platform.
“You were amazing yesterday big bro,” one commented.
“What a throw goat, we love you Mahomes,” another wrote.
“No, thank you Patrick!!” a third added.
Mahomes completed 16 of 26 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown.
The touchdown was caught by Travis Kelce, who recorded seven receptions for 117 yards.
But the Chiefs’ defense stood out in the game as they sacked CJ Stroud eight times.
Defensive end George Karlaftis posted three sacks in the contest.
Kansas City did receive some controversial calls, however, including a few penalties on Texans’ defensive players who made contact with Mahomes.
After the game, Houston star pass rusher Will Anderson Jr. said he believed the refs were against his team.
“We knew it was going to be us versus the refs going into this game,” Anderson told reporters, via ESPN.
Nonetheless, the Chiefs will take on the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship.
The Bills beat the Ravens by a score of 27-25 in the Divisional Round on Sunday.
It will be the fourth playoff matchup between Mahomes and the Bills.
Kansas City has won the previous three games, including last season’s Divisional Round game.
