Letters: City adding to tax burden

To the Editor:

Ukiah City Council members and Mayor:

At no time should a new position be made for park trash clean-up.

This is the Assistant city Manager’s duty.  Shannon Riley – Deputy City Manager.  She was hired for these duties.

Any new positions add to the financial burden on Ukiah’s taxpayers.

Ukiah has less than 16,000 citizens and most aren’t taxpayers.

Ukiah taxpayers are being taxed twice for services…streets, fire and police, garbage and sewer, and organizations using tax free property exemptions.

And now an Indian reservation on Cooper Lane.  No taxes.

No more.  I believe laws have been/being broke.  I think Howard Jarvis Taxpayer’s Organization needs to be notified and involved in Ukiah’s government decisions and financial choices.  I feel and think many will be reversed in court.

Ukiah voters did not want the streetscapes on State Street, nor did they approve the fire department being annexed by another district. This was a slick, slimy move by you, the council and city manager.

They wanted Proposition Y for roads.  Voter did not realize they were being scammed and blindly lied too about where the money was going.
