CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A death investigation is underway after officers found a man yelling for help in Lake Wylie, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 9500 block of Walkers Ferry Road. The vehicle did not stop and sped away from officers. CMPD says it did not chase the vehicle but found it less than two miles away in the 11200 block of Windy Grove Road.

While investigating, officers found a man yelling for help for help in Lake Wylie. After being rescued from the lake, the man was taken to a local hospital where he later died, officials said. Two officers were also taken to a local hospital and have since been released.
It is unclear if the man found was also the driver who fled from CMPD.
CMPD is still investigating the incident and an internal affairs investigation is also being conducted.
