Dry air and gusty winds will continue throughout San Diego County through the middle of next week, followed by cooler and cloudier weather by the end of the week and possible light precipitation by next weekend.
A red flag warning indicating critical fire danger for the region is in effect through Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.
Winds will subside at the beginning of the week before another round of Santa Ana winds picks up again by Monday evening. Winds are currently forecast to peak Tuesday and Wednesday, with gusts up to 55 miles per hour anticipated.
“Relative humidity will remain around 10 to 15 percent each afternoon inland with poor overnight recovery in the wind prone areas and thermal belts,” NWS San Diego said in a forecast discussion.
“Critical fire weather conditions are expected for all mountain locations, the Inland Empire, San Diego valleys, and Inland Orange County.”
Low temperatures in wind-sheltered valley locations will fall into the 30s for most of this week, with temperatures falling as low as the 20s in desert and mountain areas.
