Wake Forest reportedly interested in hiring Miami CB coach

Wake Forest will be led by Jake Dickert in 2025 after a 23-20 mark over 3-and-a-half seasons at Washington State. Dickert continues to fill out his initial staff, which could include a member of Miami’s sideline.

Dickert and Wake Forest have shown interest in Miami cornerback coach Chevis Jackson, according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz. Jackson joined the Hurricanes ahead of the 2024 season from Marshall, where he coached defensive backs for 2 seasons. He held the same position at Kansas for 3 seasons.

Jackson, a former All-SEC First Team player at LSU, was a 3rd round pick in 2008 and spent 4 seasons in the NFL with 5 teams. After retirement, he joined the South Alabama staff as a graduate assistant before returning to LSU in the same role.

His first full-time coaching job came in 2016 when he was hired as DBs coach at Ball State. He joined the Kansas staff in 2019 before stops at Marshall and Miami.

Dickert has his coordinators in place — former South Alabama OC Rob Ezell and ex-Michigan State DC and former Texas special assistant to the head coach Scottie Hazelton on defense — but has a few more spots to fill before his staff is complete. He replaces Dave Clawson, who spent 11 seasons at the helm before stepping down.
