Kirk Herbstreit catches flack for analysis of drop by Texas WR Isaiah Bond

Kirk Herbstreit is not a fan of receiver who jump to catch passes. He did not like it when Arian Smith did it at Georgia in what the analyst deemed to be at unnecessary times, something he made known on far more than one occasion.

And he equally did not care for it when Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond jumped to catch a pass from quarterback Quinn Ewers in the second quarter that resulted in one of the most painfully terrible drops we’ve seen in a long time. In Herbstreit’s defense, some of Smith’s drops were equally as bad, as the wideout was a part of quite literally the worst wide receiving corps in the FBS when it came to dropping passes.

But, while most are arguing that it was inexcusable for Bond to have dropped a pass that appeared to go right into his hands, other have argued that it was a poor throw by Ewers.

Here’s a look at what social media had to say about the play.

Herbstreit saw Arian Smith jump one time now he’s a savant receiver coach or something ??

I do not care that Isaiah Bond dropped that ball. That throw is behind him. And Kirk Herbstreit is wondering why he jumped. Hey pal, when your body momentum is moving one way so fast, that might be the only way he can stop it without falling. Quinn Ewers sucks.

Kirk Herbstreit hates WRs who unnecessarily jump almost as much as he hates 88% of college football teams.

Herbstreit is right. Why do these college receivers jump when catching a ball??

Bond needs to catch that, but he's wide open and it's still an inaccurate throw. Herbstreit is ignoring that it's a yard behind him.

He jumped because Ewers threw it too high, Kirk Herbstreit. Watch the game lol

Kirk Herbstreit, who never caught a football in his life, now instructing the best receivers in college football on how to catch one.

Somehow Kirk Herbstreit thought that slightly inaccurate pass that Quinn Ewers threw that Isaiah Bond jumped and dropped was “right on the money.” Another unfortunate moment of @KirkHerbstreit “protect certain types of struggling QBs” move. ? @TWDTV1 #CottonBowl pic.twitter.com/mHOXoPBJWr
