Jeremiyah Love just had one of the most impressive short-yardage runs you’ll ever see. The Notre Dame running back took the ball from the 2-yard line and was hit behind the line of scrimmage by Penn State’s defense during the Orange Bowl.
Love battled through the hit and was met again at the line of scrimmage. The RB carried the defender toward the end zone all while powering through 2 other defenders at the same time. Love avoided an attempted ankle tackle and was barely able to reach the ball over the plane.

— CJ Fogler ? (@cjzero) January 10, 2025It was Love’s 17th rushing TD of the year and probably his most impressive. Many RBs would’ve fallen after the first hit, and almost every other RB would have fallen on the 2nd hit. However, Love just kept chugging along and would not be denied.
The score put the Fighting Irish up 17-10 early in the 4th quarter. It was the 2nd rushing TD of the game for the Irish, with the first coming on a Riley Leonard scramble in the 3rd.
The Irish are trying to hold on against the Nittany Lions in Miami. The winner of this game will punch their ticket to the national championship against the winner of the Ohio State-Texas matchup. Neither Penn State nor Notre Dame have made the national championship game in the College Football Playoff era.
In spite of taking the lead, Notre Dame fell on the wrong side of 14 straight points by the Nittany Lions, aided by an interception by Riley. With a 24-17 game inside the final 7 minutes, we’ll see who advances to the national title.
