As the devastating fires roll through the Pacific Palisades area in Los Angeles, the NFL announced today that they have established a backup plan for the Vikings and Rams Wildcard game. If needed, the game will be played at the home of the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Monday night.
The NFL announced they will closely monitor the situation before determining if a change is needed.

Obviously, sports are the last thing on the minds of many in LA and around the country with tragic fires engulfing the area. Having said that, if Monday’s game is unable to be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the NFL needs a Plan B.
Inglewood is about 17 miles southeast of the Pacific Palisades. However, given the rapid advancement of the fires and their general unpredictability, the NFL felt the need to come up with a contingency plan if SoFi Stadium were to become unsafe.
For what it’s worth, we have already seen the disaster impact sports in the area. The Kings and Calgary Flames postponed Wednesday night’s game. Kawhi Leonard has been granted leave from the Clippers to join his family that had to evacuate (the Clippers are in Denver tonight). The Lakers host the Hornets tomorrow, and the NBA is keeping an eye on whether a scheduling change is necessary.
