De Bruyne will start next season as part of another club for the first time in 10 years as he departs Manchester City.

In April, the Belgian announced he would be leaving the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires at the end of this campaign.

He was given an emotional send off by supporters on Tuesday following the final home match of the season.

De Bruyne was joined by his family on the pitch after the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth for a special presentation.

As well as a guard of honour from his team-mates, a montage was also played on the big screen whilst fans chanted his name.

The 33-year-old has made 421 appearances for the club since joining from Wolfsburg in 2015.

Across those matches, he has scored 108 goals and provided 177 assists.

De Bruyne has also won 18 trophies with City included six league titles and an historic treble in 2023.

He is now edging closer to joining the Italian champions this summer.

Napoli clinched their fourth Serie A title on Friday night as they pipped Inter Milan to top spot.

Goals from Scott McTominay and De Bruyne’s compatriot Romelu Lukaku secured a 2-0 home win over Cagliari in their final match of the campaign.

Antonio Conte’s side were already assured of a top two finish and Champions League qualification.

It means De Bruyne could face City in the league phase next season if his current side clinch a place in the competition on Sunday.

City will be assured of qualification with a point away to Fulham on the final day.

They could still book their place in the Champions League with a defeat, though, if two of their top five rivals fail to win.

Newcastle, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are all also in the hunt for a berth.

City are looking to appear in Europe’s elite club competition for a 15th straight season.

They have not failed to qualify for the Champions League since their first appearance in 2011.
