Jamie Lee Curtis Pleads With Fans in ‘Unreal’ Video Update of Palisades Fire Aftermath

Jamie Lee Curtis shared an emotional update with fans after announcing that her “community and possibly my home” was “on fire.”

Curtis, 66, is one of several celebrities directly impacted by the Palisades Fire, which ignited on Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, Calif. Thousands of people were ordered to evacuate as first responders attempted to control the blaze while battling dry conditions and high wind speeds.

    On Wednesday, Jan. 8, Curtis told her fans that while she and her family were “safe,” she was aware that “Many of my friends will lose their homes.” At the time, she wasn’t sure if her own home would survive.

    Later on Wednesday, Curtis shared an update showing the fire’s impact on her neighborhood. The video, which was filmed from the inside of a vehicle, showed torched buildings and decimated structures still smoldering beneath smoke-filled skies.

    As the Halloween actress revealed in her post, her home made it through. “Our beloved neighborhood is gone,” Curtis wrote to caption the Instagram post. "Our home is safe. So many others have lost everything. Help where you can. Thank you to the first responders and firefighters. @americanredcross.”

    Several fans left comments on the Academy Award winner’s post, with many writing that they were “So glad” she and her family members were safe. Some wrote in to echo Curtis’ thanks for first responders, while others made more personal observations about her video.

    “Right at the start of this video, behind the Shell station, was my home,” one Instagram user wrote. “It’s now ash. It’s so unreal to comprehend. But the Palisades is a strong community. It’s going to be difficult, but we will get through this together.”

    Another Instagram user who said they were “born and raised” in nearby Malibu, Calif., wrote of the fire, “this is unprecedented - the burning of the commercial main street. So sorry Pallisades xo.”

    One fan who wrote in to say that their sister lived in the same neighborhood was “trying to figure out if her house survived.” Another observed that the area looked "like a war zone” in the footage.

    As of 3 p.m. local time on Wednesday, the Palisades Fire had burned more than 15,800 acres, destroyed at least 300 structures and was 0 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). The agency said more than 55 wildfires have ignited within the state in the first few days 2025.
