NFL teams are starting to increase their security following the terror attack on New Orleans.
After the terror attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, other cities are ensuring their stadiums are safe for fans.
According to reporter Noah Bullard, the Arlington Police Department added anti-vehicle barriers around AT&T Stadium.
The city is the home of the Dallas Cowboys and will also host the Cotton Bowl in the coming week.
“There’s a heavier police presence at AT&T Stadium for today’s Commanders-Cowboys game,” Bullard posted on X.
“Arlington PD has added anti-vehicle barriers at various locations.
“The stadium will also host the Cotton Bowl this coming week.”
AT&T Stadium appears to be following suit with what the Caesars Superdome implemented in New Orleans following the terror attack.
The New Orleans Police Department had an extremely heightened presence around the stadium following the attack.
“We are going to have absolutely hundreds of officers and staff lining our streets,” NOPD superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick said.
“We are staffing up at the same level if not more so than we were prepared for Super Bowl.”
Police also closed exit ramps around the stadium to keep cars from getting close to fans.
“Drivers should expect Superdome exit ramps to be closed right now,” Fox New Orleans traffic anchor Kristi Coleman reported.
“Active investigation still going on in the French Quarter and heavy police presence by the dome due to today’s game.”
The NOPD blocked areas with water-filled barriers and large vehicles instead of anti-vehicle barriers like the APD.
Bomb-sniffing police dogs were also on-site for the Sugar Bowl.
There is no telling if the Cotton Bowl will have similar security measures to the Sugar Bowl, but awareness is certainly heightened.
