DENVER (KDVR) -- Tuesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day as snow is expected to fall in the Denver metro leaving potential morning commute issues.
Over the weekend, almost a foot of snow fell in some areas of Colorado, canceling dozens of flights and delaying over a thousand others. Heading into the workweek, the winter weather is expected to continue, and so are the delays.
Here's everything you should know about the upcoming snowstorm:
Timing
The majority of the storm takes place on Monday night into Tuesday morning.
The Pinpoint Weather forecast shows a sunny start, but winter weather advisories are in place along the Front Range from Monday at 11 p.m. until Tuesday afternoon.
Advisories on Jan. 6, 2025 (KDVR)According to the Pinpoint Weather team, the snow will start to fall in Denver on Monday after dinnertime and continue into Tuesday morning. Snow showers will continue Tuesday before tapering off by Tuesday afternoon.

There's already snow on the ground in many parts of Colorado, and there's more ahead.
Forecast on Jan. 6, 2025 (KDVR)Once the snow's wrapped up on Tuesday night, there should be around 2 to 5 inches of snow in the metro, while other nearby areas could see more or less.

What to expect
The biggest effects of the storm will come during the commute home on Monday and especially the commute to work on Tuesday.
The Pinpoint Weather team said the snow could be an issue for those traveling after dinnertime on Monday and there will be slick and slippery roads for the Tuesday morning commute.
Pinpoint Weather Alert Day on Jan. 7, 2025 (KDVR)The snow mostly wraps up late Tuesday morning, so there shouldn't be much of a problem heading home on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, there could also be issues at the airport on Monday and into Tuesday.
While there will be less than half a foot of snow in Denver, this is the first notable snow since November. Be sure to check the forecast and road conditions before heading out.
