Ryan Grubb was fired by the Seattle Seahawks on Monday after 1 season as their offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Suddenly, Grubb’s services are available again, and that has the rumor mill already churning about the 48-year-old heading to Alabama in 2025 to rejoin Kalen DeBoer on the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff. Grubb served on DeBoer’s staff at Washington as his offensive coordinator in 2022 and 2023, and he also was DeBoer’s OC in 2020 and 2021 at Fresno State.
Grubb was initially going to spend the 2024 season as DeBoer’s first offensive coordinator in Tuscaloosa, where he would presumably follow DeBoer once again. But then the Seahawks OC job opened up, and Grubb decided to stay in the Pacific Northwest. That only lasted 1 season though, as the Seahawks have reportedly fired Grubb after failing to make the playoffs this season.

Seattle missed the postseason under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald despite finishing with a 10-7 record.
Now, we’ll see if the rumors about Grubb and DeBoer reuniting, for real this time, in Tuscaloosa come true.
