Happy New Year. The Clemson Tigers are spending January 1 in front of the home crowd at Littlejohn Coliseum as they open the year 2025 by taking on the Stanford Cardinal in ACC play.
The Tigers (10-3 overall, 2-0 ACC) are coming off a dominant 73-62 win over Wake Forest in a game they led by as many as 20 points in the second half. Chase Hunter had 16 points and Air Force transfer Jake Heidbreder had a season-high 15 in the victory.
Clemson was ranked No. 16 but fell out of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll after suffering back-to-back losses in overtime — to Memphis and rival South Carolina.
Stanford (9-3, 1-0) fell 76-61 to the No. 9 Oregon Ducks on Dec. 21. Maxime Raynaud leads the Cardinal in scoring with 21.4 points per game and had a team-high 20 in the loss to Oregon. Stanford defeated Cal, 89-81, in their ACC opener back on Dec. 7.
