Luke Barnett, Mater Dei, Jr., G
Barnett scored a school boys basketball single-game record 55 points in the Monarchs’ 99-35 win over Hoover of San Diego in the Desert Holiday Classic. He broke the record set by Tom Lewis 40 years ago when Lewis scored 53 points against Katella in 1983. Lewis now is a Mater Dei assistant coach.
Brandon Benjamin, Canyon, Sr., F
He averaged 30 points over Canyon’s three wins in The Classic at Damien tournament. Canyon advanced to the championship game of the tournament’s Gold Division, its second-highest division.
Christian Fernandez, San Clemente, Sr., G
Fernandez scored 30 points for the Tritons in their 76-65 win over Arlington of Riverside on the first day of the Estancia Coast Classic.
Malakhi Johnson, Villa Park, Sr., G
He scored 36 points with five 3-pointers, six rebounds and four steals when the Spartans lost 99-95 in overtime in the first round of pool play at the Estancia Coast Classic.
Cooper Stearns, Irvine, Sr., F
Stearns led the Vaqueros with 22 points and 10 steals in their 64-46 win over Chaparral of Temecula in the Orange Holiday Classic.
