Get Ready to Cry While Watching Derrick Rose Relive His Best Bulls Moments

I am not ok nor do I know when I will be ok for at least a week.

The Chicago Bulls started off Derrick Rose’s retirement celebration with a video that is certain to make even the thickest-skinned fan cry. Sitting down alongside former star teammate and long-time friend Joakim Noah, the two Bulls legends took a peek back at some of their best memories. The sit-down was a perfect illustration of the emotional bond the two have built over their careers, as well as with the city of Chicago.

The Bulls had Rose react to everything from his draft night fit to his iconic buzzer-beater against the Cleveland Cavaliers. A smile rested calmly on the face of the 36-year-old guard during the entire video. Likewise, as clips of his high-flying jams and epic clutch shots glistened on the screen, he expressed the same quiet confidence we all know so well.

“I just wanted to show people I could hoop,” Rose said in the video. “I never wanted fame, I never wanted none of that. I just wanted to show people when I go on the court, everybody is doing what they’re doing, but No. 1, he’s running a little bit different than everybody or he moving a little bit differently. That’s all I wanted people to see.”

While Rose’s soft-spoken demeanor appears the same, there is no doubt fans still see a very different version of the youngest MVP in NBA history. Rose comes off genuinely at peace with his NBA journey, reflecting on his career highlights with nothing but joy and appreciation. The same can be said for Joakim Noah, who talks about those early years with the Bulls like a proud father talks about his son.

Perhaps it’s just the expert lightning by Bulls TV, but both players are glowing during this roughly 25-minute trip down memory lane. You can tell how much they value their time in Chicago and how deeply it impacted the people they have become today. I can’t recommend watching it enough. But make sure you grab a tissue box first!

You can catch the full video below or on the Chicago Bulls YouTube page here. Derrick Rose’s retirement party is officially scheduled for January 4, 2025, at the United Center!
