Step-siblings Scarlet Vas and Tayo Ricci welcomed their first baby together on Christmas Day, sharing the news of the birth of their daughter to their millions of followers via social media. And while it may seem that the couple has a complicated relationship, there's actually an easy explanation as to how they are related.
Vas, 29, and Ricci, 27, first crossed paths as teens, but didn't start dating until years later.

“We were about 13 years old when we first met through mutual friends,” Vas told news.com.au in November. “Our families knew each other and they introduced us, I guess you could say. So, we’ve known each other for a very long time.”

After debuting their romance via Instagram in 2020, the pair launched their joint Tayo and Scars TikTok account the following year, documenting and poking fun at their unconventional romance as step siblings.

Though the timeline is unclear, two of their parents tied the knot years before the Australian influencers exchanged vows of their own in September last year. Later that month, they announced they were expecting their first baby together.
Vas–who is best known for her role on the long-running Australian soap opera, Neighbours–told news.com.au that she prefers to keep the specific details of their family's connection private, but stressed that she and Ricci are "definitely not blood-related."

Despite receiving negative comments from some social media users about their unique relationship, Vas said she and Ricci don't let the haters get in the way of their special bond.
“Honestly, it doesn’t affect us because we have each other,” the OnlyFans model told the outlet. “I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh. We find trolls very entertaining. If something’s really negative, we might comment back, we find it is quite a good disarming tactic.”
