WHAT: City council meeting Dec. 16.
PRESENT: Kevin Piros, Don Moore, Jim Bradley, Kathy Fleischer, Richard McClain, John Picuri, Scott Rowley and Mayor Deidre Petrosky.
Council:
• Approved a contract with Moody’s Water Supply Services Inc. of Meadville, Pa., for the purchase and installation of two well pumps and motors for two of the city’s water wells at $42,465. Officials said the current pump and motor are 13 years old and need to be replaced.
• Approved a change order totaling $40,803 with Utility Contracting Inc. for Fairway Drive bridge replacement project, increasing the original bid to $499,144, with the increased cost in the city of $26,227. The Ohio Department of Transportation Federal Municipal Bridge Fund and other funding covers 95% of the costs and the city share is 10%.
• Approved purchase of two generators from Buckeye Power in Twinsburg at $234,425 to service city water well pumps and the proposed new safety service complex. Officials said the city received $300,000 in American Rescue Plan funds for power generators. The city water system services 7,100 residents and operates seven wells, of which six require generators.
• Gave first reading to a zone change from 0.2170 acres of land located behind 136 St. Andrews in the Walnut Run Estates to a residential district to move a property line. A public hearing was held on the zone change.
• Announced the Eastlake Metroparks sled hill is open dawn to dusk.
