MARK SANCHEZ made a huge mistake while commenting for Fox while live on air.
The former quarterback was on air for Fox during the Minnesota Vikings away victory over the Seattle Seahawks.
Sanchez, 39, retired from playing in 2019 and has been working in the media ever since.
He has appeared on television networks such as ESPN, CBS and Fox.
But during his recent outing on Fox he accidently namedropped CBS’ rules analyst Gene Steratore.
The moment happened as he and co-commentator Adam Amin were analysing a close spot on a run by Aaron Jones.
Amin said: “Not by much, maybe by an index card. That’s a first down.”
Sanchez joked, “Where is Gene Steratore when you need him?”
However, Amin quickly replied: “I’ll take Pereira and Blandino.”
Sanchez then realised his blunder as he said: “Oh yeah, sorry.”
Amin said: “We respect all networks here, you know that.”
Amin was referring to Fox rules analysts Mike Pereira and Dean Blandino during the awkward conversation.
However, Sanchez could have made a reference by shouting out at Steratore.
In 2017, he was an NFL referee and used an index card to measure the distance between the tip of the ball and the first down marker.
This happened in the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the then-Oakland Raiders.
Meanwhile, in the world of NFL, Michael Vick broke down in tears as news of his move to become Norfolk State head coach emerged.
Kay Adams was left embarrassed as Kevin Durant took his shot while appearing on her show.
