The only thing better than having the famously funny folks at Saturday Night Live crack us up each week is getting to watch those moments when they accidentally crack each other up mid-sketch. "Breaking" has become a beloved part of SNL culture over the years — that hilarious bit last season with Heidi Gardner losing it over Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day as Beavis and Butthead is a notable recent example — and last night's episode hosted by Martin Short was gleefully no exception.
One of the first sketches of the festive evening saw Short get into a very gesticulation-heavy disagreement with a driving dad (played by Day) and his daughter (Chloe Fineman) while trying to park in the same car-lot spot on Christmas Eve. The argument got more and more heated as the men came up with ever-inventive ways to indignantly mime concepts like dead mothers, high blood pressure and Christianity. Things reached a near-boiling point when they started acting out curse words at each other. ("Guys like it though!" Fineman's character exclaimed, much to her father's horror.)

"If you won't listen to me, maybe you'll listen to my wife!" Short bellowed, before Melissa McCarthy made her grand entrance as his character's equally ticked-off spouse. McCarthy had popped up during the episode's starry cold open to usher Short into the Five-Timers Club and, like Paul Rudd and Tom Hanks, stuck around Studio 8H to cameo in sketches throughout the spirited evening.
Wearing a Karen-esque bob and a bedazzled denim jacket, McCarthy banged on car doors, spit out an ice coffee and smushed her breasts against the windows while barking insanities including "My face will eat your face!" It would be impossible for anyone not to laugh at, even pros like Fineman and Day, who valiantly but unsuccessfully tried to remain in character throughout the whole hilarious tirade.
