The Chicago Bears received some good news on the injury report regarding starting left tackle Braxton Jones.
Jones, who missed the Bears’ loss on Monday Night Football due to a concussion, was a full participant in Thursday’s walk-through practice. Chicago’s starting left tackle grades out as Pro Football Focus’ 20th-highest-graded offensive tackle among the 80 who have played enough snaps to qualify for the leaderboard. ESPN’s run-block win rate metric rates Braxton Jones as the fourth-best run-blocking offensive tackle in football. All things considered, the Bears could do worse at left tackle and having Jones in the lineup is actually a good thing.
We all saw how the offense looked without Jones at left tackle, right?

Other names on the Thursday injury report:
In addition to the good news on the Braxton Jones front, running back Roschon Johnson received a second consecutive full participation practice on Thursday. Sure, it was another walk-through practice session for the Bears. Nevertheless, being a full-go in a walk-through is better than being a non-participant.MATT ROONEY: I Don’t Think the Bears Can Afford to Let Teven Jenkins Walk in Free Agency
Unfortunately, Teven Jenkins was a no-go for a second consecutive walk-through at Halas Hall. Jenkins missed practices on Wednesay and Thursday due to a calf injury. When healthy, Jenkins is one of the NFL’s best guards. But staying healthy has been a problem for Jenkins in each of his four seasons as a pro. If Jenkins can’t suit up on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, I would not be opposed to Kiran Amegadjie trying his hand at left guard. Offensive lineman Ryan Bates remains out of action while in concussion protocol. Bates has played just 105 offensive snaps this season while because of injuries. This is feeling like a lost season for the versatile lineman. Defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. remains off the practice field because of a knee injury. Dexter missed the Bears’ loss on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. The second-year defensive tackle leads the team in sacks and quarterback hits. But for whatever it’s worth, I thought Chris Williams, Jonathan Ford, and DeMarcus Walker did well manning the middle of the Bears’ defense. while Dexter was out. Some good news on the defensive side of the trenches: Defensive end Darrell Taylor was a full participant again.Friday’s injury report will be telling. Stay tuned.
