The Winner of Survivor 47 Is Revealed

The second half of the two-part finale of Survivor 47 began in a similar way as last week's episode. Rachel had been deemed the biggest threat left in the game, and could only rely on herself and what she had in her possession to prevent everyone else from turning on her. But the straightforward dynamics was only a small part of what wound up being an eventful final episode, with records being tied, a massive firemaking comeback, and a combative final Tribal Counil. And at the end of it all, one Sole Survivor (not to be confused with Sol Survivor) was left standing.Check out more information about the results from tonight's finale episode below.Related: Everything to Know About Survivor 47

Survivor 47?

Rachel LaMont

    Rachel LaMont

Of Rachel's many skills on Survivor, perhaps her biggest is finding an extra life. After all, this was already the graphic designer's pseudo-second chance at the game, having been the on-island alternate the previous season. And when she finally got her chance to play, her expectations were blown out of the water. Survivor 47 was one of the most fluid seasons of the new era and Rachel experienced that firsthand, being blindsided and losing close allies three times over the course of 26 days. But there were plenty of times when she was in power as well, working alongside friend and foe alike to get rid of her biggest threats. On top of that, she was in dominating control of the Immunity Challenges–tying a Survivor record for women by winning four–and advantages, holding every postmerge trinket. Even when that branded Rachel the biggest threat in the game, she wielded that perception as a cudgel, allowing everyone to talk her up to the jury before she stunningly played an idol to save herself. It was a nice warm-up for what would come only a few days later, as she got to speak to them herself about the road she had taken. And, much like some extra rice from a challenge, Rachel had the jury in her pocket, winning the season near-unanimously.

    Survivor 46 tonight?

    Sam Phalen

    Robert Voets / CBS

    Sam Phalen

Sam's motto in Survivor was simple: Try everything. Not only did this literally apply to the lack of fruit in his diet, but also to his turbulent journey in the game. Sam was the "glue guy" of Gata early on, only for one of his closest allies to tear down that adhesion when the merge hit. Now without a number one, Sam went tumbling from the top to the bottom, scrapping by vote by vote to get through. And every time, he was able to prevail, whether it was as a part of the high-stakes "Operation: Italy" or mounting a massive comeback in Final Four firemaking. Yet again, Sam knew he was facing an uphill battle going into Day 26 against his former tribemate. And this, unfortunately, was one end zone the NFL beat reporter could not find his way into, stopped right at the 1 yard line.

    Sue Smey

    Sue Smey

Sue is a complicated person, having lived a full life of career and personal pivots. But her Survivor game was as clear as the red paint and soot on her face. In an environment of deception, Sue chose to take the route of unwavering loyalty. She started flying high, finding an idol and fal in early with both Gabe and Caroline, forming an ironclad bond with them and fi. Unfortunately, in a season full of constantly-shifting dynamics, Sue's loyalty left her stuck like a rock, and got left out as the others blindsided her closest allies. Despite those setbacks, Sue's tenacity that got her through 59 years pushed her through 26 days. She made it all the way to the end of the game, on her birthday no less, where she gave everyone a surprise by revealing her true age.

    Teeny Chirichillo

    Robert Voets / CBS

    Teeny Chirichillo

Throughout Teeny's 25 days on Survivor 47, their emotions would flourish like a raging fire. Their social skills from the outside world endeared them to pretty much everyone in the game, putting them in some key middle positions early on. But the surprising struggle did not come from crafting with the blindsides, but living with the repercussions. Those emotions were compounded by the number of times they were blindsided themselves, leaving them feeling spun at the feet of fellow tribemate Genevieve. By the time Teeny reached the endgame, things felt out of their control, even more so when Rachel put them into Final Four firemaking against Sam. Much like Teeny's overall game, at first, their flame grew tall, nearly clinching the win instantaneously. But yet again, they were outmatched, and Sam came roaring back to leave them on the outside looking in once more.

Yes! As was the case with seasons 41-45, Survivor 47 did have a reunion following the winner reveal, albeit in a different way than prior to the "new era." The jury votes were read on the island right after they were cast. Then the finalists and jury came together to debrief about the season. As host and executive producer Jeff Probst told Parade, the decision was initially made on location to not deprive the contestants an opportunity to debrief if the COVID-19 situation had not let up by the time to allow for live events.
