Hey, so the Blackhawks scored the first goal again. The Islanders were able to come back and tie the game with 77 seconds left in the first, but the Hawks took the lead right back inside the final 20 seconds of a period that could have cured insomnia between the first and second goals being scored.
Simon Holmstrom tied the game 2:25 into the second period. The Pierre Engvall pass went in off his skate; the Blachawks did not challenge the play. The Blackhawks went from a penalty kill to a 5-on-3 quickly in the late stages of the second and were able to quickly get the lead back with Connor Bedard setting up the easy snipe.
The Islanders tied the game 47 seconds into the third period and Anders Sorensen challenged there was goaltender interference. He lost the challenge, and put the Blackhawks short-handed in a now-tied game. Thankfully the Blackhawks were able to kill the bench minor. Inside the final minute, Bedard happened!

Teravainen was the primary assist trigger man on both of the Blackhawks’ goals in the first period. He was on the ice for 5:43 in the first period during which the Blackhawks had a 6-2 Corsi For and 3-1 Shots For advantage. His line with Jason Dickinson and Ilya Mikheyev was really, really good in the first period. And remained good thru the second period in which he scored a go-ahead goal to give him a three-point game.

He scored his first goal as a member of the Blackhawks and his line with Teravainen and Dickinson was Chicago’s best in the game.
