Today (Sunday 15th December) marks the final of the Scottish Open 2024 and the tie is a tantalising, if unexpected one.
Chinese player Lei Peifan has progressed to the final round of the competition after seeing off Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen, who looked set to claim victory after leading 5-2, but Lei forced an 11th frame before going on to win.
He will go head to head with fellow Chinese player Wu Yize, who came from behind against fellow countryman Xiao Guodong in his previous match to reach the deciding fixture.
Victory would be a first ranking tournament win for both 21 year olds.
According to Snooker HQ, it’s the youngest combined age in a final since 22 year-old John Higgins was beaten by 19 year-old Paul Hunter in the 1998 Welsh Open.
