Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Al Wakra Hospital, which was designated five years ago as a Centre of Excellence for Hernia Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), performs upwards of 570 hernia surgeries each year. Dr Sabah Adnan al-Kadhi, medical director of Al Wakra Hospital says he is proud of his facility for becoming the first hospital in the Middle East to receive the prestigious accreditation; worldwide, fewer than 1% of hospitals that perform hernia surgeries have earned the accreditation. The SRC is an independent, patient-safety organisation and the leading administrator of quality improvement and accreditation programmes for surgeons and hospitals around the world
