California Highway Patrol to Address Aggressive Driving
California Highway Patrol officers on motorcycles. Courtesy CHP The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a $2.6 million federal grant to implement new safety measures. CHP plans to curb speeding and aggressive driving statewide by enhancing enforcement and launching public awareness campaigns. From the beginning of 2023 to July 31 of this year, CHP used federal funding to enhance speed enforcement on state routes with rising speed-related incidents, issuing more than 30,000 citations or vehicles going over 100 mph. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
