Arsenal win over 3-0 Bournemouth

Arsenal's dominant performance in their 3-0 victory over Bournemouth showcased their strength and skill on the field. From the opening whistle, Arsenal controlled the game with precise passing and aggressive attacking play. The first goal came early in the match, setting the tone for what would be a one-sided affair. The Gunners continued to press forward, creating numerous scoring opportunities and keeping Bournemouth's defense on their heels.

The second goal was a thing of beauty, with intricate passing leading to a clinical finish that left Bournemouth's goalkeeper helpless. As the match wore on, Arsenal's confidence only grew, culminating in a third goal that put the game out of reach for their opponents.

A penalty shortly before halftime converted by Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal the lead, Leandro Trossard eased the nerves inside the Emirates Stadium with a second goal on 70 minutes and Declan Rice added the third deep into stoppage-time.

Bukayo Saka converted a penalty in the 45th minute after a trip on Kai Havertz before Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice added second-half goals at Emirates Stadium to secure Arsenal’s fourth straight victory in the league.

Arsenal, seeking its first league title since 2004, has two matches still to play — at Manchester United and home against Everton.

Havertz won the penalty in the 42nd minute after running onto a through-ball and rounding Mark Travers, only for the goalkeeper to clip the Germany international’s trailing leg.

This particular fixture offers a clear annual snapshot of their evolution: in March 2023, they needed a 97th-minute winner from Reiss Nelson to secure a dramatic 3-2 win at the end of a heartstopping encounter in which control was lost in the chaos.

On Saturday, they scored again in the 97th minute, but this time Rice merely extended the winning margin for a victory that felt secure much earlier in the contest.

Arsenal scored with their 16th shot of the first half, a 45th-minute penalty converted by Bukayo Saka but won by Havertz. It was the sort of moment that challenges the idea that a dive and a legitimate penalty are mutually exclusive: Havertz beat Mark Travers to the ball but slowed his momentum and left his right leg in place long enough for the Bournemouth goalkeeper to touch him. Having been given on the field by referee David Coote, the VAR would almost never overturn such a call.

"Kai is not someone that dives but I haven't seen the image," said Arteta, in a moment that might be one of those learnings from Arsene Wenger -- who often said he hadn't seen an incident -- he recently admitted to undertaking.

At 2-0, Ryan Christie had a goal for Bournemouth disallowed for a push on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya by Dominic Solanke in the buildup, with a VAR check not changing the decision of the on-field referee.
