Champions League Semifinal: Borussia Dortmund vs. PSG 1-0

The Champions League semifinal match between Borussia Dortmund and PSG was a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Both teams came into the game with high expectations, but it was Dortmund who emerged victorious with a 1-0 win.

The match was a tightly contested affair, with both teams creating numerous chances to score. However, it was Dortmund's Erling Haaland who proved to be the difference maker, scoring the only goal of the game in the first half. His clinical finish showcased his talent and ability to perform on the big stage.

The two sides meet again at the last four stage after both qualifying out of Group F earlier in the competition. Dortmund finished top, three points ahead of PSG, but the French champions beat BVB at home and then claimed a vital point on matchday six away to seal second place.

Dortmund have since seen off PSV Eindhoven and Atletico Madrid in the knockout stage to set up this semi-final showdown, while PSG have got the better of Spanish sides Real Sociedad and Barcelona in the last two rounds.

The hosts are set to be without injured pair Ramy Bensebaïni and Sébastien Haller, while Ian Maatsen, Donyell Malen and Mats Hummels all face late fitness tests.

PSG have a number of key absentees of their own, with Presnel Kimpembe, Layvin Kurzawa and Sergio Rico all definitely out of this encounter.

PSG fought hard to find an equalizer, but Dortmund's defense held firm to secure the win. The victory puts Dortmund in a strong position heading into the second leg of the semifinal, while PSG will need to regroup and come back stronger if they hope to advance to the final. Overall, it was a memorable match that showcased the skill and determination of both teams.

PSG manager Luis Enrique rallied his side at the break and Mbappe's first major moment in the game came in the 51st minute with the France captain hitting the post with a trademark cut in from the left.

Moments later the ball fell to former Dortmund right-back Hakimi and his effort, just like Mbappe's, stuck the inside of the opposite post and ran to safety.

Ousmane Dembele, another ex-Dortmund player, blazed a glorious chance over the bar with 10 minutes left while Fullkrug though he deserved a penalty after being nudged in the back when he appeared set to head in Julian Brandt's cross.

The 1-0 scoreline leaves this tie finely balanced for the second leg at Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
