Coventry City 1-2 Ipswich Town

On a chilly Saturday afternoon, Coventry City faced off against Ipswich Town in a thrilling match that had fans on the edge of their seats. The game started off with both teams playing cautiously, trying to find their rhythm. However, it was Ipswich Town who struck first with a goal in the 25th minute, sending their supporters into a frenzy.

Coventry City fought back valiantly and managed to equalize just before halftime, much to the delight of their loyal fans. The second half saw both teams pushing for the win, but it was Ipswich Town who ultimately came out on top with another goal in the 75th minute.

City went in search of a leveller, and they came close through a long-range strike from Ben Sheaf, but his attempt whistled past the post.

Another chance came and it was Kasey Palmer who’s strike came off two Ipswich players before falling at the feet of Haji Wright and somehow his strike was kept out by Vaclav Hladky.

Seconds before the break, Brad Collins produced an excellent stop to keep out Nathan Broadhead’s header from inside the area.

The victory sees the Tractor Boys go three points clear of Leeds United going into the final day on Saturday, meaning a point at home Huddersfield Town will be enough to secure back-to-back promotions for Kieran McKenna's side.

Kieffer Moore put the visitors ahead inside 10 minutes, but Coventry improved after the restart and drew level thanks to Haji Wright just past the hour mark.

Almost immediately, on 54 minutes, Wright turned to fire in a low right-foot shot and stun the visiting away corner.

However, within five minutes, Ipswich were back in front when Burgess latched on to a deep Leif Davis free-kick.

Burgess' initial header was blocked but the ball ricocheted back to him and his angled follow-up sneaked in for only his second goal of the season.

Last season’s beaten Championship play-off finalists Coventry, whose form has deserted them at the wrong moment of the season, with one point out of a possible 15, had very little left.

There were still 11 fraught minutes of added time for the nervy away section to get through. But the chants of “We are going up” at the final whistle underlined that a second successive promotion is close.

hen 11 minutes of added time were announced at the end of the 90 minutes, there was an audible groan from the away end.
