The 2024 NBA Playoff Game 4 between the LA Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks was a thrilling and intense matchup that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer. The Clippers managed to secure a hard-fought victory over the Mavericks with a final score of 116-111, taking a commanding lead in the series.
Both teams displayed incredible skill and determination throughout the game, with standout performances from key players on both sides. The Clippers' star player led the charge with an impressive display of scoring and playmaking, while the Mavericks fought tooth and nail to keep pace.
Clippers team president Lawrence Frank announced the news Sunday approximately two hours before tipoff and declined to provide a timeline for Leonard’s potential return. The 32-year old had been dealing with inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee.
“It was clear that he was not himself in Game 3,” Frank said.
Leonard sat out of the series opener, before returning for Game 2 to play 35 minutes in the Clippers’ 96-93 loss to the Mavericks. The two-time Finals MVP missed LA’s last eight regular season games and Game 1 of the postseason in an attempt to quell the swelling.
Leonard played 25 minutes in the Clippers’ Game 3 loss, scoring nine points with nine rebounds. But it was clear the six-time All-Star hadn’t quite returned to the form that allowed him to play the most regular-season games in his career since 2016-17.
James Harden turned back the hands of time and scored 33 points (15 in the fourth quarter) on 12-of-17 shooting from the field, seven rebounds and six assists. Paul George scored 26 of his 33 points in the first half and dished eight more assists in the series tying win.
Kyrie Irving flipped the switch to “incredible mode” after a miserable first quarter and keyed the Mavs comeback attempt over the final two and a half quarters of the game. He finished with 40 points and seven boards. Luka Dončić had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 10 dimes, though he didn’t make his first 3-pointer until the fourth quarter.
In the end, it was the Clippers' tenacity and determination that secured them the victory. With standout performances from key players like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, they were able to outlast their opponents and come out on top.
Overall, this game was a true showcase of talent and competitiveness in professional basketball, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer sounded.
