Italian Cup semifinal:Atalanta 4-1 Fiorentina

In a thrilling Italian Cup semifinal match, Atalanta emerged victorious with a resounding 4-1 victory over Fiorentina. The game was filled with excitement and drama as both teams fought fiercely for a spot in the final.

Atalanta started the game strong, taking an early lead with a goal from Duvan Zapata. Fiorentina quickly responded with an equalizer from Franck Ribery, but Atalanta regained control of the match with two more goals before halftime.

Teun Koopmeiners, Gianluca Scamacca and Mario Pasalic also scored for Atalanta, while Lucas Martinez Quarta scored for Fiorentina, which had Nikola Milenkovic sent off early in the second half for a foul on Scamacca.

Atalanta advanced on 4-2 aggregate after Fiorentina won the opening leg 1-0.

    Juventus eliminated Lazio on Tuesday.

The final is scheduled for the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on May 15

Meanwhile, Fiorentina's defense has been a key to their recent success and they have conceded one goal over their last four matches across all competition. They have also only lost one game over their last six overall, and that was a 1-0 decision to Juventus where Fiorentina only allowed two shots on target.

Fiorentina started this tie as underdogs but Vincenzo Italiano's side love a cup tie. The Viola have knocked out Parma and Bologna – both on penalties – en route to the Coppa Italia last four. Rolando Mandragora proved the match winner two weeks ago and much will rely on the clever defensive midfielder, plus center-back linchpins Nikola Milenkovic and impressive youth team graduate Luca Ranieri if the six-time winners are to reach back-to-back finals.

Atalanta's second goal came from a powerful header by Robin Gosens, further extending their lead. Despite Fiorentina pulling one back through a penalty, Atalanta continued to dominate and added two more goals through Josip Ilicic and Luis Muriel. The final scoreline of 4-1 was a fair reflection of Atalanta's superiority on the day, as they continue to impress in Serie A with their attacking flair and defensive resilience.

The aggregate was level at 2-2 when Lookman was whistled for offside after finishing off a counterattack. The crowd at the Gewiss Stadium went wild when the referee pointed to the center circle to award the goal after a video review.

Then Pasalic sealed it for Atalanta.

Earlier, Scamacca scored with an acrobatic overhead goal.
