The winner will be rewarded with a seven-game series against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.
Unfortunately, New Orleans will have to find a way to win without Zion Williamson, as he has already been ruled out for the game.
Even if the Pelicans can snag a win at home against an equally battered Kings team that will miss Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk, two key wing players, they won’t get Williamson back for at least two weeks.
Now the Pelicans have one more shot to make it to the NBA Playoffs. The winner between the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans will secure the eighth seed and face the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.
Valanciunas’ short hook shot and Ingram’s layup put the Pelicans up 53-40 late in the half before Fox’s 3 helped the Kings trim it to 54-45 at halftime.
But the Pelicans maintained a lead of 10 or more points for much of the second half, going up by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.
In my prediction for this game, I believe that the Pelicans will edge out a win over the Kings. With their depth and skill on both ends of the court, I see them pulling ahead in a close contest. Fans can expect an intense battle between these two teams as they fight for supremacy on the hardwood.
