Allen Iverson’s sculpture unveiling at practice facility

On a crisp autumn day, fans and media gathered at the practice facility of the Philadelphia 76ers to witness the unveiling of a larger-than-life sculpture of basketball legend Allen Iverson. The sculpture, crafted by renowned artist Brian Hanlon, captured Iverson in his iconic pose - dribbling a basketball with intensity and determination.

As the black curtain was lifted, gasps of awe filled the air as spectators marveled at the lifelike detail and emotion captured in the bronze statue. Iverson himself stood beside his likeness, visibly moved by the tribute to his illustrious career.

Basketball hall-of-famer Allen Iverson was honored on Friday with a statue outside of the Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex in Camden.

The former MVP and 11-time NBA all-star will forever be featured performing his signature crossover outside of the practice facility.

“The Answer” was overcome with emotion when discussing the honor in front of his family, teammates and mentors from over the years.

During the second quarter, Embiid dealt with an injury scare, leaving uncertainty in his ability to close out the game. Late in the second quarter, Embiid had an awkward landing after attacking the basket to score.

As his team returned to the other end of the court to get back on defense, Embiid struggled and asked for a timeout. Once the Sixers stopped the game, the MVP left the court and went back to the locker room to get checked out.

The Sixers knocked off the Orlando Magic 125-113 Friday night, picking up one of their most important wins all season.

Joel Embiid overcame another injury scare to drop 32 points, shooting 10-of-23, along with 13 rebounds and seven assists.

Tyrese Maxey had a big fourth quarter, finishing with 28 points on 10-of-19 shooting, while Kelly Oubre Jr. went for 21 points.

At the same time Nurse played a lineup Friday featuring most of the players who were supposed to be part of the plan this season. Tyrese Maxey was back on the floor with Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Kelly Oubre and Kyle Lowry.

“It’s certainly good to see,” Nurse said. “I think that I’m looking forward to it. But I’m always kind of seeing who’s available, start rolling with it and not get too carried away that it’s going to be the same crew the next game, or the next game or the next game.”

The Sixers entered their game with the Magic with six straight victories, all of those with a different starting lineup. They scratched forward KJ Martin (left big toe contusion).
