The Tigers then used a surge at the end of the first half to take the lead into the break, but the Bruins responded with a run of their own in the third to tie it back up heading into the fourth.
The Tigers come into the game on the heels of an 83-56 win over Middle Tennessee on Sunday and in the midst of a feud between lightning rod head coach Kim Mulkey and the Washington Post. On the floor Flau’jae Johnson led the game with 21 points. While in the press room, Mulkey used the looming article to deflect from the team's slow first half.
"No. Listen, we’re not going to let one sleazy reporter distract us from what we’re trying to do. Absolutely not," Mulkey said.
LSU defeated No. 11 Middle Tennessee in the second round last week, coming back from an early, 10-point deficit to win big by 27. Sophomore sensation Flau'jae Johnson led the way for the Tigers, scoring 21 points while star forward Angel Reese pitched in 20 points and 11 rebounds, her 14th straight double-double.
